Aqua Fitness and Gentle Aqua
If you’re looking for a good all-round form of aerobic exercise why not try Aqua Aerobics and Gentle Aqua. Jogging, walking, upper limb strengthening underwater in a pool not only strengthens the lower and upper limb muscles but also aids in the stabilisation of joint and the added benefit of being non weight bearing is great for those clients who have arthritis and joint related injuries. All this as well as helping to develop cardio-respiratory fitness. The whole body gets a great workout all in less than 60 minutes.
Water acts as a cushion for the body’s weight-bearing joints, reducing stress on muscles, tendons and ligaments. As a result, aquatic workouts are low impact and can greatly reduce the injury and strain common to most land based exercises. Come along and try one of our Aqua Fitness Classes or Gentle Aqua classes today.
Aqua Fitness and Gentle Aqua is offered at SRSS Mt Gravatt.

What is hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is a therapeutic whole-body treatment that involves moving and exercising in water – (physiotherapy in a pool). The Mt Gravatt East Hydrotherapy pool is indoors, heated to 32 degrees and combines both a pool environment with ramp access and Hydrotherapy (massage) jets for a soothing massage feel.
Doctors and Physiotherapists often prescribe a course of hydrotherapy as part of a treatment or rehabilitation programme. It is also used by athletes to improve and maintain their general health and fitness, often in recovery after training or competition as well as for the general public as part of a healthy whole-body routine.
What is hydrotherapy good for?
Being immersed, buoyant or massaged in water can relieve your body in a variety of different ways, and hydrotherapy can help with many physical and emotional complaints, including but not limited to:
Swimming Without Limits
Swimming Without Limits
At Sam Riley Swim Schools, we have designed and developed a new program called Swimming Without Limits for people with a disability. The program has been designed in conjunction with Jenny Schoof from The Friendship Program at Disability Services Queensland. Jenny has been working closely with us to develop, implement and provide the expertise required for this unique program.
Initially it is important to identify the individual needs and abilities of each participant. We will do this through a one on one free assessment. This will be done at a quieter time by an approved SWL instructor (takes approx. 15 minutes) and will enable us to tailor a program that best suits the individual’s needs. During the assessment we will work closely with the person and parent or carer to understand their individual needs and abilities.
Once you have completed the assessment the Program Co-ordinator must identify the type of program that will best suit the individual’s needs. This can be done in one of the following ways:
Group Classes for 4-8 participants can also be organised whether parent/carer in the water or not – these classes can be offered to groups who wish to join us for lessons.
An enrolment pack outlining all costs and which asks you some questions (kept strictly confidential) that we will use to ensure we offer you the best service and program possible is available on request.
I hope this has provided you with all the information you need about our exciting program. If you would like to ask any further questions please contact our Customer Service team on 3171 9340 or email us at
Private Classes – SWL
This level is for people who require or would like a one on one or 2 on one class. Participants may have special requirements like a focus on muscle stimulation, hydrotherapy, individual stroke development. We offer either 1:1 or 2:1 child:teacher ratio classes. These are for people with varying degrees of water confidence who require individual support (for children over 3 years we do not require a parent/carer in the pool) – the class will be specifically designed for the participant’s ability and developmental stage.
We offer a flexible payment system as these classes are specifically allocated to a child at a set day/time each week we do not offer makeups however credits are available for missed SWL lessons as long as you let us know prior to the commencement time for their class.
As allocation of a suitably qualified teacher and pool space are required for these classes all fees are per lesson we cannot offer a 2nd lessons discount for these classes.
